Yes that glass of Wine can keep you young

It’s not the fact that when most people get drunk they like to dance and get active lol, theres an antioxidant found in grapes (red and purple grapes have the highest concentration of it) that protects your telomeres and keeps you young.

That molecule is called Resveratrol.

If you love berries, grapes, and wine then, you’re already getting a good amount of it. It’s found primarily in the skin of Red and Purple grapes, and the magic molecule gets released during the process of the grapes being crushed. So that grape juice lol the one you’re scared to drink because of the racist connotations, it’s extremely healthy for you.

This molecule is anti-aging, anti inflammatory, and it protects your healthy mitochondria while helping your body to remove old and malfunctioning mitochondria.

Weakened and inefficient mitochondria have been linked to aging and the general degradation of the human body across all body systems. A glass of red wine or grape juice can help protect our little energy generators for the future.

Is the term “intermittent fasting” familiar to you? Intermittent fasting is, not having and food for breakfast and eating 1-2 meals per day, typically afternoon. We were previously taught that breakfast was the most important meal of the day right? Well this form of calorie restriction can rejuvenate your body. Calorie restriction, while prioritizing nutrient dense foods has been shown to; increase mitochondrial efficiency, reduce DNA damage, reduce oxidative stress, increase nutrient sensitivity, decrease inflammation etc…

Resveratrol has been shown to have all of these same effects in the body, so in short taking a concentrated resveratrol supplement can give similar benefits to calorie restriction!

Lets have a brief discussion on Heart Disease in America. Close to 700k people died in 2020 due to heart disease. In the US statistically someone has a heart attack about every 40 seconds.

If we cannot make the necessary dietary and lifestyle changes t0 prevent the heart attacks, let’s shed light on a few ways we can recover from them. Yes, resveratrol has been shown to help repair cardiomycytes (the cells that make our hearts pump) especially after they have been damaged. Red Wine or resveratrol supplements can help you recover from a heart attack.

So swirl, sniff, taste!
